Calibration[Free Translation]

A large number of certified reference materials (CRMs) are polished and mounted, one by one, on the spark stand. The signals from these samples are recorded and plotted against their certified concentrations.

A separate calibration is made for each type of material (matrix) being analysed, for example, cast iron, aluminium, etc.

Software allows various types of corrections to improve the fit between the measured signals and the certified concentrations, and hence the accuracy of analysis, eg, spectral interferences, self-absorption.
